Abiko International Relations Association(AIRA)'s 2005 fiscal year general meeting is held.

Place : Abiko Civic Plaza Hall

The 14th General Meeting of AIRA began by the declaration of opening a meeting by Mr. Robert Gray of ALT(=Assistant Language Teacher).
Mr. Ideguchi, chairman of AIRA, gave an opening speech "We made last year an active overseas movement like coming from & going to Croatia, visit to Boston etc. Such overseas activity will be of course continued this year, and we'll further deepen relationship among AIRA members so that foreigners living in Abiko might live more comfortable life."
　The following message was provided from Mr. Fukushima, honorary chairman of the association and mayor. "The population of Abiko City is 132,000 out of which foreigners are about 900. Concerning the exchange with an overseas city, it's preferable that cooperation will begin as a result of the accumulation of the usual exchange and also as a result of taking its own course. I don't think that an agreement exchanged first of all between a certain city and Abiko will accordingly expedite a smooth and good relationship." There was a short greeting from Mr. Aoki , adviser of AIRA and the chairman of the city council.
Afterwards, the explanation was done as regards to the activity report , the revenue/expenditure statement of accounts in 2004 fiscal year and the activity scheme in 2005 FY and its budget. All subjects submitted were approved. Moreover it reported on the alternation of the directors, the executives and the advisers.
The number of AIRA members registered as of March 31, 2005 was reported as follows: Total 796 people (303 men, 493 women : city living 679 people , suburbs living 117 people)

After the general meeting, we had ' Talking-for-a-while' listening to background music played by Ms. Hosotani, pianist.
Meanwhile we had a chance to receive a brief message from Mr. Noguchi, Director-General, National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan who lives in Abiko City.
