Numbers of voluntary activities throughout the year have concluded with the merry toasting and cheerful chatting among members and guests in the hall.
Since the time for preparation was so limited that members briskly decorated a height-high christmas tree with shining tassels and the front wall with colorful signboards. At exact 6:30 p.m., Mr. S. Iinuma, one of the emcees opened the party.
Following a welcome address by Ms. F. Kitajima, AIRA President, Mr. J. Hoshino, Mayor of Abiko, expressed his thanks to the various activities achieved by AIRA members and requested for further cooperation of AIRA in the year to come.
Tonight's toastmaster, the President of Chuo University, Mr. I. Shiina celebrated the party and loudly toasted to the visitors asking for happiness and a long life.
Right after the greetings, people flocked to the banquet table with a mountain of dishes of Japanese and Chinese, and warmed Vienna sausages, sandwitches, snacks, and many others. Christmas songs and tunes were resounding in the decked hall.
Some drive-free members enjoyed sipping liquors.
On the stage, Mr. E. Montenegro played guitar and a Filipina singing star Ann sang season's songs once again, who had impressed the audience at the last AIRA Festival on November 30.
A quiz-time gave the participants pleasant thrill of guessing questions. The quizes were those of a choice between two alternatives types. Every quiz was accompanied by doorprizes of choice, which were donated by affiliate members such as NEC Abiko Office, Chuo Gakuin University and Chamber of Commerce of Abiko.
Ms. M. Takahashi, modern ballet instructress, invited the audience to a light exercise to the song "Furusato" with her own unique improvisation. The unimaginable jaunty movement out of her youthfulness, at her late-eighties, surprised everyone.
In the last, the all participants in the hall sang "Silent Night"and "Jingle Bells"to the piano of Ms. Y. Tabuchi.
The party provided a valuable opportunity for the members who were usually hard to meet together.
