Following the short speech of Prof. T.Okubo, President of AIRA, and Mr J. Hoshino, Mayor of Abiko city, Ms Y. Miyamoto, Chairperson of Abiko city council, delivered a message in which she encouraged AIRA members, through their activities, to make the foreign-born Abiko citizens consider they have made right decision in choosing Abiko their home.
The AIRA businesses during the fiscal year 2007 and the statement of accounts for FY 2007 were reported and accepted. New trustees and officers were presented to the floor and approved. Here, the post of AIRA President was transferred from Prof. Okubo to Ms Fumiko Kitajima.
Business schedule and budget plan for FY 2008 were presented under the chair of Ms Kitajima, the new AIRA President, and were approved. Change of the advisers was announced, then the new executive members were introduced.
The number of AIRA members as of March 31,2008 reported in the meeting brochure is 832, of which male members are 342, female members 490, and corporate members 25 including two corporations outside of Abiko.

Manager, Culture and Education Department: Mr Shigeo Tsukamoto
Manager, Voluntary Activity Department: Mr. Tetsuya Sugano
Acountants: Mr Mitusru Hayasaka and Mr Maso Sumi
The meeting was closed by an Australian member, Ms Lisa Word in English and Japanese. After the meeting a mini-concert was held. Ms Atsuko Nakaigawa played violin and Mr. Koji Ishihara played piano. The audience enjoyed excellent live performance.
The gathering ended in a tea party with a cozy atmosphere for international
mingling.
