The ceremony of AIRA’s 20th anniversary of foundation was held at Civic Plaza from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. The opening of the ceremony was announced by Ms. Miyoko Takahashi, representative of Abiko Culture Association and member of the executive committee of AIRA since its foundation. 
Mr. Mitsuru Hayasaka, president of AIRA, expressed in his speech, “We are very happy to hold the 20th anniversary ceremony today. To be exact, AIRA was founded on November 21, 1992, and will be 20 years old on November 21 next year. AIRA has come of age thanks to the efforts of all the people concerned including the municipal government. The principle of AIRA activities is based on outright volunteerism. We are in a financially difficult situation and seeking ways to increase income. Inviting more collective members is one of our agenda. All the AIRA members are expected to take part in a discussion which direction we should be heading for.”
Deputy Mayor Mr. Akira Aoki read Mayor’s congratulatory message on his behalf. After all the guests were introduced, Mr. Hisanaga Shimazu, chairman of the board of directors of Yamashina Institute for Ornithology, made a congratulatory speech representing all the guests. He earnestly stated, “AIRA is involved in wide range of activities. With the expectation of progress of globalization in future, I firmly wish for a continuing growth of AIRA.” After the introduction of some congratulatory telegrams, the ceremony was concluded by Ms. Fumiko Kitajima, vice president of AIRA.  (vol.150)
