Purpose: Fund-raising for the victims of the Sumatra Catastrophe

The Sumatra Earthquake/Tsunami of 26 December 2004 devastated coastal regions of Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Abiko Namal Friendship with cooperation of AIRA organized a fund-raising drive on April 10 this year and sent the proceeds to the suffering people in Sri Lanka. Chanty represents prayer or consolation in Sanskrit.
The Performance this time is the repeat.
Resounding Japanese drums play followed the opening speech. Then, the representative of the organization reported on how the result of the April drive had been welcomed by Sri Lankan people. One of many letters written by students of Sri Lanka was read. The student wrote that gift money from Japan made it possible for him to obtain school supplies and to enjoy school life.
The performance included kindergartners' chorus, singing and piano play by two sisters, Thai dance and a short lesson on how to make greetings in the Thai language, Hindu music by a three-man Indian group and kokarina(wood flute) playing. The last number was featured by an Indian woman who performed a south Indian classical dance which expresses rich feelings with eyes, fingers, hands, arms, and entire body. The audience gave enthusiastic applause.
The collection box received \129,000 on this day. A sum of \135,000 including additional \6,000 from another source, exceeding the amount of the April drive, is now available for aid to Sri Lanka.
